AgResearch wanted a website that was modern, affordable to develop, and built on top of a rationalised information architecture.
Working with their subject matter experts, I came up with the single unifying concept “everything is a story”. The Home page, About Us page, and Careers page are all tiled feeds of news stories, distinguished by visual styling. The digital team uses a single story editing tool to manage all three subsites.
Another goal was to make the scientists a prominent part of the narrative, so each story has clickable thumbnails of the contributing scientists, and each scientist’s profile page in turn has clickable story thumbnails. It’s hoped this will encourage a “youtube effect” of organic discovery via related content links rather than just relying on the search box.
